Frequently asked questions
Why is crew always free?
The crew is where most of the headcount in a tree-service shop lives, and they're the users least likely to care which software they're using. Charging per-crew-seat punishes you for growing. We charge for the people who run the business — owners, office staff, and project managers — not the people doing the work.
What's included in my plan vs. what's an add-on?
The base price of every tier (Pro, Firm, Enterprise) includes the full CRM workflow: QuickBooks sync, tree inventory, property history, data mining and map segmentation, inspections, the crew tablet, estimates, proposals, invoicing, and customer payments. Add-ons are optional features that solve specific problems on top of the core product — they're never required to use Digital Arborist day-to-day. The Client & Web Suite, Marketing & Campaigns, Operations & Compliance, and Site Plan Extraction are flat monthly add-ons (Site Plan Extraction is metered — 20 extractions/mo included, then $3 each); the two premium buckets — the Consulting Arborist Suite (CTLA appraisals, TRAQ, i-Tree) and Field Intelligence (LiDAR and photo ID, both coming soon) — are priced on request. If you never want email campaigns, you never pay for them.
Why does the Client & Web Suite have a separate fee?
The Client & Web Suite features — customer portal, public quote form, GBP reviews and review-by-text — run as a plugin on your WordPress site, on your hosting, alongside your theme and whatever other plugins you use. Every install is a potential support call when something interacts unexpectedly with our plugin. The $29/mo covers compatibility testing across WordPress versions, plugin updates, and direct support when something on your site breaks our piece. The CRM itself runs on our servers and isn't affected.
What's the difference between Pro and Firm?
The product is the same. Firm includes more seats so you don't pay overages once you've hired a dedicated office admin and a second or third project manager. If you're a solo owner with one right-hand person, Pro is right. If you've split sales and operations across multiple people, Firm starts paying for itself.
What counts as an "owner" vs "admin" vs "project manager"?
Owner — full access to billing, settings, financials, and all data. Typically the business owner or a partner. Admin — office staff who handle scheduling, invoicing, and customer communications without seeing financials or changing billing. Project manager — handles estimates, proposals, and ownership of jobs in the field; the title varies by shop ("salesperson," "arborist on staff," "estimator"). Crew — the people executing work; tablet access, job updates, photos.
When does Enterprise make sense?
When you've got two or more physical locations operating as semi-independent shops — separate crews, separate customer lists, separate books — but want a single login and cross-location reporting. Enterprise is $500/mo for your first office and $250/mo for each additional one. Each office is its own tenant with its own QuickBooks connection. Contact us to set it up.
How does the free trial work?
14 days of full product access, no credit card required. At the end of the trial, pick the plan that fits your shop. If you don't pick one, your account pauses — your data stays where it is and you can come back anytime.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade anytime. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle so you don't lose what you've already paid for.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. Month-to-month for everyone. Cancel anytime and your data stays exportable for 90 days after cancellation in case you change your mind.
Do I need a separate QuickBooks subscription?
Yes — QuickBooks Online is its own subscription from Intuit. Digital Arborist connects to your existing QuickBooks account; the integration is included in every plan.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data is yours. On cancellation you can export your customer, job, and financial records. We retain your data for 90 days after cancellation and then delete it permanently unless you've reactivated.
